Digest version of Koho(Public Relations)naka Board版(宣傳橫濱·中區版)
Basic Goal: Naka Ward, a safe and vibrant community for all – A great place to live, a great place to work, a great place to visit –
Ms. Yukari Naoi, Head of Naka Ward
On behalf of everyone at Naka Ward Office, I would like to extend my gratitude to all residents for their ongoing understanding and support. This is to inform you that we have drawn up the FY 2020 Naka Ward Administrative Policies. We at Naka Ward Office are united in our efforts to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and will do everything within our power to protect the lives of all residents, and ensure that life goes on as normally as possible. In addition to safe and secure community development that forms the foundations for our daily lives, such as disaster prevention initiatives, other work that will be carried out includes the relocation of Yokohama City Hall, the redevelopment of Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium, and other community stimulation measures taken in anticipation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, etc. And we will also work to make our community a more vibrant place for all by promoting cultural diversity and Naka Ward Community Health and Welfare Plan. In order to revitalize the community and solve issues, we will strive to further strengthen bonds between local residents, businesses and organizations and Naka Ward Office, helping people to join forces under a united Naka Ward. Thank you once again for your cooperation.
Measures aimed at achieving goal
1 Creation of a safe and secure community where people can live with peace of mind
We will make steady efforts to safeguard people’s daily lives
● Measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus
● Improve local disaster prevention capabilities through self-preparedness and community support
● Maintenance and management of roads, sewage systems and parks
Enabling people to use roads, parks and other public facilities with peace of mind
Doboku Jimusho (Public Works Office)
The Doboku Jimusho (Public Works Office) is responsible for the maintenance, management and repair of a range of facilities vital to our daily lives, such as roads, parks, rivers, sewage systems, etc. In addition, in order to ensure the safety and security of children, the future of our society, it works with guardians and the police to identify dangerous spots along roads surrounding schools, placing stickers along school routes warning people to beware of children, and if necessary putting in place sidewalks or widening roads.
It also provides support to community members and companies that are involved in cleaning up roads and parks, and maintaining flower beds. Please consider getting involved in these activities.
2 Community development that facilitates mutual support for all, from children to senior citizens
We will work even harder to achieve community development in which people support and help each other out, enabling anyone to continue living in their familiar surroundings in safety and good health.
● Creation of an environment in which people can raise families with ease and enjoy bringing up their children
● Participation in society by elderly persons
● Measures to help vulnerable members of society stand on their own two feet
● Initiatives aimed at fostering understanding of disabilities
Aiming to become a community which understands and accepts people’s differences
Korei Shogai Shien-ka (Elderly and Disabled Support Division)
We have been carrying out a range of initiatives to increase understanding of disabilities and dementia. We will continue with our efforts in the hope that everyone learns to understand and accept people’s differences, and to treat others with respect and kindness.
3 Community development which emphasizes cultural diversity
We will undertake community development of a kind which enables anybody to live life in their own way.
● Understand the needs of both Japanese and non-Japanese residents and population demographics
● Provide enhanced support and information for community interaction
● Generate awareness of cultural diversity
A place where anybody can live life in their own way
Kusei Suishin-ka (Ward Administration Promotion Division)/Chiiki Shinkō-ka (Regional Promotion Division)
Today, around 1 in 10 of people living in Naka Ward is a non-Japanese resident. In light of this, we take an active stance in providing multilingual information to allow non-Japanese residents to access information they need in their daily lives.
Please visit the website to read Naka Ward Town News, our multilingual PR magazine.
4 Development of a vibrant community
We work to encourage vitality and good health in the community.
● Promoting the appeal of the area’s shopping districts, parks and rivers
● Improved accessibility within the ward
● Support for community activities
● Promoting sporting activities
Creation of a thriving town in collaboration with shopping streets!
Chiiki Shinkō-ka (Regional Promotion Division)
Naka Ward has many famous sightseeing spots, but take a look around its local shopping streets and you will find many hidden charms. In order to make more people aware of these charms, we create PR videos in collaboration with the area’s shopping streets.
Last fiscal year, we created a video called “Noge Sanpo (A Stroll around Noge)”, which introduces the charms of the area’s shopping streets through a stroll around town. The video was created as a tie-in project utilizing “Yokohama Walking Points,” a pedometer app. Please check out the video on the City of Yokohama’s YouTube channel.
5 A ward office that works hand-in-hand with the community
We listen to the voices of people in the community and work hand-in-hand with them.
In addition to providing considerate and accessible administrative services with both accuracy and speed, we at Naka Ward Office take pride in fostering the support and trust of local people.
